It started with Curiosity
I was working with a supplement company, watching people in my life feel genuinely better, and I got curious. Not just "oh, that's nice" curious - I mean WHY curious. How do our bodies actually work? What makes the difference between surviving and thriving? That curiosity led me to complete a 12-month program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition - my first deep dive into how nutrition, stress, sleep, and the products we use all connect.
The rash that changed everything
My husband developed a severe allergic reaction to a common preservative called Methylisothiazolinone. It was hiding in almost everything in our house - body wash, shampoo, lotion, even products labeled "natural." We thought we were already making good choices.
Down the Label-Reading rabbit hole
That rash sent me down a rabbit hole of ingredient research that changed everything. I started reading labels - really reading them. Long lists of unpronounceable ingredients. Known irritants. Preservatives that had no business being on our skin. And I realized: most of us are using products every day without knowing what's actually in them.
Less, Not More
So I started swapping things out. Simplifying. Using fewer products with ingredients I could actually recognize. I found a few small businesses making products I actually trusted - those became our family go-to's. After having my boys, we tackled almost every ailment - rashes, bug bites, the usual kid stuff - with holistic support. I truly believe their bodies are stronger because of it. That's when it hit me: pure care isn't about adding more steps. It's about using fewer, better things.
GOING DEEPER
That curiosity never faded. In 2022, I opened Health & Heart Collective - a small shop where I sold some of my favorite natural products from the small businesses I had come to love. Then I went back through the IIN program as an alumni to go even deeper. But the more I worked in that space, the more I wanted control over what went into the products I was sourcing. Not everything was made or offered the way I believed it should be. And honestly? The holistic world had gotten SO noisy and overwhelming. I knew there had to be a simpler way.
Candid Naturals is born
So I created Candid Naturals to do it my way - to make personal care uncomplicated. Not 12-step routines. Not ingredient lists you need a chemistry degree to understand. Just simple, effective products made with pure ingredients. I started with a natural beauty line, sourcing and finishing everything by hand - labeling, bottling, perfecting each product with care. Then I added a handcrafted skincare collection, blending 100% grass-fed tallow with organic herbs.
Skincare, Makeup & Body Care
Today, Candid Naturals covers skincare, makeup, and body care - all designed to do more with less. Multitasking products that save time, space, and steps. The same way I care for my own family.
Grace, Not Perfection
The natural living world has gotten SO noisy. One person says this ingredient is toxic, another says it's fine, and someone demands third-party testing on 0.001% of a product. And the stress of doing it all perfectly? That's worse for your health than any ingredient you're worried about. Candid Naturals is about giving yourself grace. Making simple, confident choices - without the noise, the guilt, or the perfection.
